Today's episode is a sweet treat - in more ways than one! Emily Scanlan works from home as a baker of cupcakes, cookies, and all the yummy things. She's also been through an interesting marital situation. Listen to the episode to find out what I mean!
Elizabeth Riley is on the podcast today! You know that feeling when you figure out what works best for YOUR family? That's what today's episode is all about! We all have our unique situations and schedules and families and we have to come up with our own special way of living our lives! Some things that work for one family might not be that awesome for another... and vice versa! Homeschooling is one of those things that can be GREAT if it's what fits your family! For Elizabeth, it's her way of putting her whole heart and soul into mothering.
You already know that I am a huge advocate for making money with Amazon. That's why I'm so excited to have another mama on the podcast who makes a healthy living as an Amazon seller! Amy Hoang helps other women with their selling ventures. Still not convinced that you can do things out of the "norm"? Listen to this episode for some inspiration!
It was so fun to interview Danielle! She also runs a podcast geared towards moms and all the aspects of motherhood. I can't wait for her to interview me next! This episode is a great reminder that anyone can reach their goals, even if it seems like "everyone is already doing it." There's always room for more awesomeness!
If you care about your health (shouldn't we all?) this episode is for YOU! Michelle Kelsch owns Movara Fitness Resort here in Southern Utah and she helps change lives every day by giving people the motivation they need to change their mindset when it comes to taking care of their health! There are so many ways that you and your kids can stay active and healthy. It's so important to take care of yourself so that you can better take care of your children!
Not many of us can say we've been critiqued in the tabloids, but Melisa Osmond found herself in the spotlight in a very unwelcome way. She married into a well-known family (can you guess which one?) and lives a mostly normal life. She never imagined that strangers could be so mean online! Even if you haven't been the target of cyber-bullying, we've all been victim of negative criticism at some point or another. Melisa shares how she overcame the hate in today's episode! She knows what you've been through and can say "Me, too."
Susie is a baby sleep consultant! If you struggle at all when it comes to your baby's or toddler's sleep (and we probably all do!) this episode is for you. With her business Sleep Baby Love, she shares her knowledge and experience with overcoming sleep problems.
Staci has been through her fair share of trials and has come through them with strength and grace. Faced with the challenges of an unfaithful partner and a brand new baby girl, she made the difficult choice to leave and start over for the sake of her daughter. Staci accomplished big goals while being a single mom! Since then she has remarried and now she knows what it's like to be with someone who treats her the way she deserves to be treated.
You're gonna love this one! Cat & Nat are the epitome of best mom friends. If you don't already know them, this episode will make you want to. "Momming" is better together!
Shara is an awesome woman I met at the Wannabe Balanced event this year. She's a mother of two, a news anchor for KSL, and overall boss mom! This is a great episode with a peek into what it's like to be a full time working mom and basically rock all aspects of your life.
Naimah Shaw is a mother to four kids and a successful blogger. She was born and raised in Guyana, South America. She home schools her kids and has always loved being a writer and sharing her passions!
Chelsea Andersen is mother to four kids. Her oldest son is in his early 20s and this episode focuses a little bit on a trial they went through with him as a family! Even when things seem horrible, it is possible to find beauty in everything.
I met Natalie through Periscope last year and she has an amazing story! So many of you have been through heart wrenching experiences and it's beyond comforting to know you're not the only one. We all have our trials, but the struggles that come with a newborn baby are unmatched when that sweet baby has serious health problems! If you need a little more inspiration in your day… this episode is for you.
Samantha Naud is an incredibly sweet person and it was wonderful to interview her. I can tell just by talking with her that she mothers her children with grace and respect. She has four children, and home schools them all (even the baby!) Listen to this episode so you can hear some great parenting inspiration and motivation. She's all about adventure and learning!
Jen has seven children ranging from the ages of 5-27. For the past few years, she has dealt with chronic pain and illness that makes it tough to be a good mom. But she's just as marvelous as the rest of us! She writes a blog, Chronically Positive Mom, that is geared toward helping other sick moms find ways to cope with the struggles of illness during motherhood. Not only that, she has a book coming out on June 23! It's called "The Sick Mom's Guide® to Having Fun Again: If I can do it, you can too!" and you should totally check it out.
This week's episode is with Jesika Harmon, mother of five on Earth and two in Heaven. Jesika has some great advice for teaching and being an example to our children, and she also shares some profound experiences. Listen to hear about what she calls "such a beautiful journey."
Jen Riday is the host of a podcast called Vibrant Happy Women, and she is the epitome of that name!
Ladies, be aware that major creative and special sparks flew during this episode. The synergy that can happen on a podcast interview is kind of amazing. I LOVED Jen when she interviewed me on her podcast, and loved her even more when I had the chance to chat with her for an episode of MY podcast! She is a remarkable insightful woman and you would be smart to follow her podcast as well as this one.
We talked a lot about motherhood and how imperative it is that we create joy in the center of our homes. I LOVED how she compared mothers to the sun, with planets- our kids and spouses- orbiting around us, and how if we are happy it effects that orbit and energy. It's the phrase, happy wife happy life, right? But a lot more spectacular than that.
The best thing that happened on this episode was the validation of how IMPORTANT it is to take care of myself before I can take care of my family. Following my dreams, passions and desires only makes me better, it doesn't take away that love I have for my children!
Meditation is something I have been thinking about, as well as this craving for yoga, and Jen brought all of it right to me with her belief that an hour of yoga is as good as weekend away.
Thank you Jen for having such a great conversation with me, sharing your insight as a mother of 6 children and proponent of happiness and vibrance!
Aimee is one of my friends all the way back from my immature crazy high school days. If you had told me back then that we'd get to connect as adults and be friends like we are now I wouldn't have believed you! Aimee and I had very different life situations back then, but it's amazing how motherhood and just adulthood in general can bring you together.
Aimee reached out to me months ago to see if it would be a good idea to share a bit of her story and her life with my audience- and I immediately knew it was an important episode to share. Aimee suffers from Lyme disease and is one of countless people who endure chronic illnesses. It completely changes the flow and expectations of her motherhood and life. I am so honored to share her perspective with those of you who I KNOW need her message!
Listen in and share with a friend who needs to hear this!
Thanks Aimee for being brave!
Today's episode is special for several reasons, but the main one is because the guest is my own sister! Ashlee went through something all too common in motherhood: postpartum anxiety (and depression). We thought it would be important to share her story while it's still fairly recent and fresh in her mind. In addition to being a new mom, Ashlee is reaching for her dreams to make a new album. She's crowdfunding the project on Kickstarter!
For a free download of one of her songs, visit:
and click "more" then "download."
I hope you can gain insight or find comfort from listening to our conversation, or from listening to Ashlee's music!
You might recognize the name Al Carraway from her book "More Than the Tattooed Mormon." She is a writer, public speaker, and mother to two young children: Gracie and Christian. Despite flunking public speaking class, Al now speaks multiple times a week and has won awards for her speaking. In her episode, she talks about her faith and how it has pushed her to be who she is.
Lindsey Shipley is an RN, international board certified lacation consultant, childbirth educator, and mom of two. She created Lactation Link to give women the confidence that is so essential when taking care of newborn babies. Lindsey created a business by seeing a real issue that needed a remedy. Listen to her story!
Jenny Wecker is a young mother of two who also owns and runs the amazing company Fawn Design! She started sewing when she was five years old and always knew she was supposed to do something important with her creative side. Listen to her story to find out how she came up with her idea, be inspired by her hard work ethic, and realize you can do amazing things too!
Hey everyone! Today is a great one for all you foodies or moms wanting a little reset on your eating routine. I love Sam's tag line- you can't eat clean without getting dirty!
If you think about it, most convenient food isn't messy. We gravitate to fast food and easy meals to prevent further work in the kitchen. Raise your hand if you've ever ordered in just because you CANNOT do another dish. My hand is up.
I love stories that include someone finding silver lining in a hard situation. Sam had major digestive issues for most of her life, and as she got to the bottom of what was causing it, she developed a way to eat. And it hasn't only benefited her, but those around her and anyone who wants to take advantage of her research and planning!
Tune in to listen to more and get started with Sam's meal planning subscription to help you make meal time healthy and easy!
Beth is one of my favorite people, who I met on....yep, you guessed it- Periscope! I owe my entire life as it exists now to that amazing platform!
Beth and I met in real life less than a year ago at a blogger conference and I kind of wanted to stick to her like glue. She was the real deal, a salt of the earth honest to goodness person. I admired her and everything she stood for- and still do!
What I first knew about Beth was her incredible cake making skills. She'd prop us up in her kitchen as she live streamed while baking and mixing and frosting all kind of treats. She also shared stories about her kids, her challenges and her testimony of God and her faith. I am honored to be able to share in even more depth, her story that has touched my life.
This is truly one of the most marvelous moms I know and I'm so proud to call her my friend!
Thank you Beth for being brave enough to share it all and inspire so many with your words!
